NYFW - Couture Fashion Week 2017

As part of the #operarecycles program, I went to NYFW to put on the very first recycled fashion show inspired by opera, made from recycled paper opera brochures, programs, and mailers.

Each piece is wearable art - while the model may not be able to sit down in each gown, she can walk and move about fairly normally. I consider the wearer's comfort and functionality first. Many of my recycled designs have hidden pockets.

Each dress here reflects inspiration from a specific opera. The three I showed represent (in order) Pagliacci, Barber of Seville, and Rigoletto.

Pagliacci worn by Hannah Duke
Barber of Seville worn by Lindsey Kuehl
Rigoletto worn by Madison Hicks
